I am Vladimir Kosarev. I am a journalist both by education and profession, but my second job, which actually evolved from my childhood hobby, is the photographer, or better to say a photo artist, because I am much more concerned with the artistic, esthetic and sensitive side of the coin, rather than with the plain photo-coverage of this or that event. The artistic value is what matters for me in photography.

My most favorite themes are jazz and the Argentine tango. I have been pulverized by jazz for as long as I remember myself, John Coltrain and Miles Davis having been my idols over the past decades.

As for the Tango (I mean the real Argentine Tango), I stuck to it merely three years ago, when I saw the dance for the first time, and took a deep dive into its fascinating atmosphere at club milongas, concert scenes and festival grounds in Moscow, Buenos Aires, Paris and London…

Tango and jazz – can the two have anything in common? But they do have a lot. Like jazz, the tango was born at the very heart of the folk tradition. Like jazz absorbed much from the world’s long and versatile musical tradition ranging from spirituals to symphonic music, the tango, which in fact is based on the social folklore of the city, owes much of its charm to outstanding composers and performers of academic music.
