Indeed, tango music, including the masterpieces by Astor Piazzolla, is played by many famous jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Jerry Mulligan, Gary Burton, Stephane Grappelli, Chick Corea, Gato Barbieri, etc. The mainstays of both the jazz and the Argentine tango are improvisation, spirit and unity of emotions of performers and listeners. The two are “traditionally full of erotic drama and swinging outpourings of lust and passion” – as my friend, jazz critic and theoretic, a prominent anchor of BBC’s jazz programs in London, Yefim Barban, puts it.

This is not by chance then that my first large photo show in Moscow was entitled “Tango and Jazz: Parallel Worlds” Tangophoto.ru and Jazzphoto.ru are kind of photo almanacs, in which I try to share with my guests the impressions, I was overwhelmed with during milongas and concerts, and tango and jazz festivals.

I am always glad to receive invitations as a photographer to jazz and tango events, and for my part would like to invite tangeros, jazzmen and jazzfans, photographers and other enthusiasts to creative cooperation.
